What happened to the aquarium on Helgoland ?

The Heligoland Aquarium has been closed since January 2015, due to dilapidation. In addition, as a pure aquarium, it was also no longer considered up to date and the federal government decided to inject 7.5 million in funding to bring the aquarium back in new form to Heligoland to bring.

The opening is scheduled for 2017 under the name "Atlantis". The Heligoland are also hoping for a further financial injection of 30 million euros from the EU's ITI pot to make Helgoland even more interesting for visitors in terms of marine research and energy production.
