Where is Spiekeroog ?

Spiekeroog is a small, breathtakingly beautiful East Frisian island at Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park, Germany. It is one of the seven East Frisian Islands and lies to the northwest of the mainland on the North Sea coast.

The island is located between the Islands Wangerooge and Langerhörn, about 5.5 miles off the mainland coast. It can only be reached by boat or ferry from the neighboring islands or from the mainland. The ferry ride provides ample time to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Wadden Sea.

Spiekeroog is the fourth largest of the East Frisian Islands and has an area of about 6.5 square kilometers. One of its peculiarities is that it is a car-free zone, which makes it even more peaceful and quiet. The only vehicles allowed on the island are emergency services, and bicycles and horse-drawn carts are the main means of transportation.

The island has about 800 permanent residents, but in the summer months even more tourists come to the island to enjoy the beaches, dunes and the tranquility of the natural environment.
