How to get to Langeoog?

Arrival by car

It is not possible to go by car directly to Langeoog to drive. The island itself is car-free, and you must park your car in a designated parking area on the mainland. The nearest parking lot to the ferry terminal is in Bensersiel, about 20 miles east of Langeoog.

From here you can take a Langeoog ferry. The ferry ride takes about 60 minutes and it runs several times a day. It is important to book your ferry ticket in advance, especially in high season when the demand is high. You can book your tickets online or buy them at the ferry terminal.

If you are traveling from further away, you can also rent a car and drive to Bensersiel. From Hamburg the drive takes about 3 hours, from Berlin 4 hours and from Frankfurt 5.5 hours. Remember that there are often road works and speed limits, so plan enough time to get there.

How do I get to Langeoog?

The ferry is the most common way of North Sea island to reach. The ferry port is located in Bensersiel, and several companies offer connections to Langeoog.

One of the most popular companies is the shipping company Baltrum Line, which operates several ferries daily to Langeoog. The crossing takes about 60 minutes and during the trip you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the North Sea enjoy. You can buy your ferry tickets online or at the ferry terminal.

Another option is to take the ferry from Neuharlingersiel, which is about 12 miles north of Bensersiel. This route is less popular, but it can be more convenient if you live closer to Neuharlingersiel.

By train

Traveling by train is another option, but not the most convenient. There are several train stations near the ferry terminals in Bensersiel and Neuharlingersiel, but you will have to take a bus or a cab to reach the ferry.

The nearest train station to Bensersiel is in Esens, which is about 9 miles away. From Esens you can take a bus or a cab to the ferry terminal.

If you are traveling from further away, you can take a train to Wilhelmshaven, which is about 60 miles from Bensersiel. From there you can take a bus or a cab to the ferry terminal.

By plane

If you come from further away or don't want to be on the road all day, you can fly. Langeoog has a small airport and several airlines offer flights to and from the island.

One of the most popular airlines is FLN Frisia Luftverkehr, which offers flights from Bremen, Hamburg and other cities. The flights take about 45 minutes and you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the North Sea on the way.

Remember that flights are often more expensive than other forms of transportation and may not be available at certain times of the year.
